Subject: India trip feedback

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you with feedback from our trip which was from 13th - 19th Feb. We had an amazing time overall and would definitely recommend one of your tours to people planning on going to India. Please see our findings/thoughts below:

Delhi - your representative Girish was very helpful throughout, nothing was too much trouble for him. He was waiting for us at the airport when we arrived even though our flight was delayed and changed some of our itinerary as we were quite tired on arriving.  The tour guide for Delhi was also good and very helpful, taking us to everywhere we wanted and to a nice place for lunch. Our hotel was nice although the food choice was quite limited in the restaurant (no Indian food which we thought quite odd!).  It was very nice for Girish to take us out for dinner on our last night there, and he also gave us a leaving present which we really appreciated.

Agra - our hotel was again fine with a better choice in the restaurant. The tour guide we had was also helpful and informative around the Taj Mahal, and Fatepuhr Sikri the next day

Ranthambore - this was a great addition to the trip. We really liked the accommodation and the food was excellent and plentiful.  The safaris were just about the right length of time as well. Unfortunately we didn't see a tiger but did glimpse a leopard on the morning trip.

Udaipur - this was probably the best accommodation we had on the trip, our room was really nice with lovely views over Udaipur.  The restaurant in the hotel was also good and very reasonably priced.  Your representative met us here which was reassuring as we were flying on to Mumbai the next day. He even printed our boarding cards for us which was very helpful.  The Udaipur tour guide was very informative and amusing and showed us everything we wanted to see. It was also nice that your representative went with us to the airport before we flew to Mumbai to check our flight was not delayed or cancelled.

We had the same driver for the whole trip. Although his English was quite limited it was enough to get by and he was excellent at pointing out landmarks etc. Most importantly he was a very safe driver and we never felt at all worried despite some of the other crazy drivers and bumpy road surfaces. He knew all the best places to stop for meals and was always there on time whenever we had arranged to meet him.

Overall we had a great time and we would definitely use you if we return to India again.

Kind regards,
James Savage and Claire Capell

Dear Gouri

We just wanted you to know what a fantastic holiday we have had.  All the arrangements were excellent and almost everything went exactly to plan.  We were met by kind and helpful people at every location and our driver was perfect.  All the hotels were wonderful and their locations were quite wonderful.

Our only minor complaints were that the wildlife park at Eravikulalm was not open as it was closed for babies.  Also there was a little confusion when we arrived for our boat trip on Vembanad Lake, as we had thought that all trips were paid for, but this one wasn't!  It wasn't a problem as it cost very little, but did cause a minor hiccup.

Thank you

Shaun and Sara Barns

We would like to add to your list of very satisfied customers. Our trip at the end of November last year went like clockwork. Your representative Sanjay Kumar Sahoo met us with the driver at Delhi airport and escorted us to book in at The Park Hotel. Sanjay was very helpful and the rest of the 17 day tour took us to all the palaces, forts and temples which I had wanted to visit. The local representatives and the tour guides in each place were very good and we had no problems at all. We would like to record in particular that our driver, Rishi Ram, was excellent, always helpful and informative about India and he made our trip a great pleasure - bearing in mind the hours and distances which we covered together in the car. The car was also excellent - comfortable and spacious. We felt November being the wedding season was a great time to be in India and added yet another dimension to the trip. Altogether a great experience and I would recommend both your company and the tour to anyone who wants to see all the major sights. Please use this e-mail when anyone enquires about the experiences of previous clients.

I am writing to express the thanks of myself, Jeffrey Reid and Roger Rook for the wonderful holiday we have just had in India.

Before we went I was impressed by your efficiency and organisation and this carried on from the moment we landed in Delhi where we were met by the representative of your agents Vacations Travel and Tours (P) Ltd. Sanjay was very kind and courteous and introduced us to our driver for the duration Mr Daljit Singh. He was a brilliant driver, quiet and courteous with a charming sense of humour. Nothing was too much trouble for him.
All the hotels exceeded our expectations and we were well fed and looked after. The guide in Delhi called Subi was a very talented man and did a good job as did Kishur in Agra. Both were first class.
The tour was well  balanced with the 3 night stay in Ranthambore just right. We did see 3 tigers and 2 leopards. Seeing the tigers was very exciting and once again our guide was excellent.
You of course know our itinerary which we thoroughly enjoyed and we were so impressed how everything worked just like clockwork.

Very many thanks,
Yours sincerely,

John Reid

I would just like to say a huge 'Thank you' for our holiday.  The organisation was brilliant.  We were met at each stage by very friendly ground agents and the city tour guides were very informative and helpful, always asking if there was anything else we would like to see.   Our driver, Rishi Ram, was brilliant.  The car had been cleaned every time we returned to it and Rishi was also very informative, pointing out places of interest and stopping en route from one city to another.  Nothing was too much trouble for him.  Our second week in Goa at Coconut Grove was very relaxing which was just what we needed after a hectic first week sightseeing in the North.  Again the hotel staff were all very friendly and the restaurant food in the evening very good.  Everything was cooked to order so you knew it was fresh.  Both at Jaipur airport going to Goa and then Goa to Mumbai for our homeward journey we felt very special as the ground agent took our tickets and bags and checked us in.  Again, nothing was too much trouble.

I must admit we did have some reservations travelling with a company we had not heard of, but we would certainly not hesitate in recommending Great Vacations as we had a brilliant time.

Thank you once again.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Subject: Our holiday FOA

We have just got back from another wonderful holiday in India and I wanted to send you a message to thank you for organising such a great holiday for us. We had a really enjoyable time and once again you itinerary proved to be just right for us - a good mix of architecture and history plus wildlife a glorious scenery. Our driver was great and successfully managed to avoid accidents on the chaotic roads of India. The hotels were generally good, in particular the Elephant Court at Periyar and Backwater Ripples at Kumarakom. The Mamalla Beach Resort at Mahabalipuram was fairly basic but I understand they are still recovering from the Tsunami. Our slight disappointment was the Fort Heritage at Cochin which I thought was an upgrade for us. If it is meant to be a four star hotel I'm not sure why, as it was a lot more basic than some of the others (e.g. no plug on the TV, a broken toilet seat, no tea/coffee facilities or bottled water, no welcome drink etc). It was certainly an old building, which we appreciated but it just didn't seem to have the more upmarket feel we were expecting for the end of the holiday. Apart from that everything was great.
If you want a more detailed break down of our views on hotels, guides etc then let me know. Otherwise, many thanks again and we will certainly recommend your company to any friends or family who are thinking of visiting India.

Regards.

On behalf of Diane and John Emery, my husband Ron and myself I would like to thank you for arranging our holiday, we had a wonderful time. The drivers and guides were very good at their jobs, they were both courteous and knowledgable. The organisation was very good.

There is just one thing I would like to bring to your attention.

The hotel in Agra was in fairly poor condition, the rooms had paint falling off the walls in quite big pieces and broken windows taped up with masking tape. The bathrooms were very run down.  My friends had to ask for their sheets to be changed because they didn't look clean.

In spite of that we have brought home some wonderful memories of India and Nepal.

Thank you once again

Subject: our holidays 11-28.Oct.2008 - Nainital, Golden Triangle

at last I got round to drop you some lines regarding our holidays we booked with you.

Firstly we would like to compliment you on how well everything was organised and on your very caring staff member Girish in Delhi and our driver Rana.
On our long long hours of road travel we came across several tricky situations which Rana mastered with great calm and confidence. We never felt unsafe. He also was polite, helpful, punctual and good humoured.
I would like to give you a quick round-up of our hotels.
The hotel Qutab  in Delhi was a well-appointed hotel but what we disliked was the musty smell in their rooms, which also the best air-conditioning could not get rid of. We stayed in this hotel four times on different dates and had different rooms - but, I am afraid, all with a varying degree of musty air, which spoilt it a bit. The windows were apparently never opened and all locked because of security .When we asked to have them opened (which helped the situation immediately) we had to sign a form.
The Hotel Vikram Vintage Inn in Nainital was under restoration and we were the only guests at that time, which caused a bit on inconvenience, but I must say the staff put themselves out for us to make up for it. Otherwise a very nice hotel.
Hotel Shahpura House in Jaipur , a former private palace, was of course a dream!
The Grand Imperial in Agra was very pleasant with very spacious rooms, which was particularly appreciated as they were three of us.
Hotel Clarke's at Shimla had a distinctive English feel about it. We were given a suite - so lots of space. Unfortunately all three of us were sick in turn during our 3 day stay at Shimla. The staff was outstandingly caring and supportive, supplying us with hot water bottles, medication and at the restaurant they cooked for us whatever we felt like eating or were able to eat..

The train journey to Shimla was an experience - particulary the toy train. Marvellous train ride up and up the mountains with beautiful views - but the train itself pretty uncomfortable. At the train station at Shimla I noticed with envy a "First-Class" Toy Train with wider carriages and nicely upholstered seats ready to leave for Kalka. Were you aware that there is a First-Class- Train? I would definitely recommend it.

Apart from the marvellous sights we saw on this holiday, a lasting impression will always be your people:  always friendly, helpful and courteous, wherever we went.

Altogether our Indian journey was a great experience for us and we would like to thank your again for organising it so well. Your company is definitely to be recommended.

With best regards,
Hanna and Michael Fife

Subject: Re: India and Bhutan

Well we had a wonderful time! Your arrangements were seamless and we were very impressed. especially the arrangements to meet and greet and escort us wherever we went. You kept us so busy that it is all something of a blur but Sanjeet our representative in Delhi was wonderful, going out of his way to help our daughter with her onward arrangements as well. The Driver Mr Richi Ram was superb. All the guides in India were excellent especially the guy who took us to the Taj. whose knowledge was encyclopedic.
The only slight criticism was of the food at the Hotel in Agra which was "unusual" but otherwise all the hotels were super especially the Maharaja's Palace in Jaipur. It was a treat to have lovely swimming pools wherever we went in India too. The streets were the culture shock we were expecting with all the beggars and street vendors, and we were glad to have "locals" with us, especially with Jessica there. They also lent us invaluable assistance in such matters as getting a "local" mobile phone for Jess to travel on with and replacing her Camera Lens.

We were however a bit disappointed by our Guide in Bhutan, I am more inclined than my Husband and daughter to give her the benefit of the doubt because she was very, very willing, concerned for our well being,  attentive and very pleasant. However her spoken English was not very good and we struggled to understand her, for example it took us a long time to work out that when she said what sounded like "almond paste" she was actually telling us there was an army base. She was very nervous and we felt that we were certainly not getting the full picture about any of the places she took us, although it must be said that she certainly took us to all the right places. She was obviously inexperienced and doing the very best she could but we will never get another opportunity to go to Bhutan, which is SO beautiful, and we do feel that we missed out on the full experience. We had to tag on to other groups in order to get the information she should have been giving us. Her written English was faultless!

Having said that she took us to the last day of the Festival in Thimphu, which was wonderful. She took us to a Tibetan Monastery where the Queen's Mother was attending a ceremony and persisted in asking the Head Monk if we could go in until he asked the Queen's Mother who said we could and she sent us Tea and Rice! (Much to the chagrin of the other Tourists who were not allowed in!). She showed us how to tie the traditional dress and would have attended us 24 hours a day had we wanted her to she could not have been more willing.  She accompanied us to the Tigers Nest which was a huge struggle and achieved it without demur.  With a bit more experience she will be a super Guide, but we do feel she should have been given the opportunity to sit in with a more experienced Guide for a bit longer, and that we missed out on a lot of information we should have got, in fact we bought a guide book.  The Driver was really good and the hotels were lovely.  The Country is beautiful and the people charming. The only place I would criticise was the Herbal Medicine Museum which was dismal, badly presented and drab. They could have made it fascinating but failed dismally. The "Painting school" was the exact opposite and very interesting.
We flew past Everest on a clear sunny day sitting on the right side of the plane, we flew back over the Ganges delta which as an amateur Geographer was fascinating, we flew home over Afghanistan on a clear day.  We saw the highest un-climbed mountain in the world, they turned the fountains on for us at the Taj Mahal ( well actually for a VIP who was coming later but who cares why!) and the greatest bonus of all was the Observatory at Jaipur which my Husband had not realised was the very place that has fascinated him for years and he hadn't appreciated was on our Itinerary!
But of course the crowning glory of it all was the Tigers Nest which needs no superlatives from me. All I can say is that I made it, I am very proud of myself and I will never forget it. Thank you for your wonderful organisation, you made it a trip of a lifetime and I will recommend you to anyone who is thinking of doing the same without hesitation. I can now see why you laughed at me when I worried about you missing us at Delhi! We were even met at Kalcutta to walk from one terminal to the next. The flight out by Virgin was totally full and rather harassed but the flight home was half empty and blissful.
Hope that is enough feedback for you to realise we had a wonderful time thank you!

Debbie Garland.

Good morning,
Just a line to let you know had an amazing holiday in India, all the arrangements went very well thank you, your representatives in India were first class.

Just for feed back may help you with future bookings.
1. I was disappointed with the Taj View I expected it to be of the same standard as other Taj hotels.
The staff were excellent but the hotel particularly the our room and bathroom needs refurbishment. We ate at the Indian restaurant that was fine but the standard of the main restaurant needs upgrading my rating poor 4 star.

2. I did not like the ambience at the Lallgarhpalace very dismal not comfortable very dower.
But we did have a wonderful time in Bikaner the city tour and the camel ride with dinner were excellent.

We can not fault any of your staff they were excellent.

My very best regards and thank you.
I have passed your details on to some friends who are thinking of visiting India.

Hi

I am back from my holiday to India and my tour of Rajasthan.

I would like to thank you for arranging the tour which was managed very professionally by the India operators and went without a hitch, exactly according to my itinerary. They were extremely well organised by ensuring that they made contact and confirmed my itinerary with supporting vouchers. Then at each location I was met and welcomed by a local representative who then arranged for a local guide. I was not accustomed to this level of efficiency in India.

I found the guides every articulate, passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter of each site I was taken to. At the end of each tour I was given a Satisfaction form to complete, which has been in the UK for some time as part of an ISO accreditation.

Anil, the driver, was very professional and made a good companion. I think, with a little training, he could take on the role as driver and tour guide as he was very knowledgeable about many of the customs and sites. He was also very professional and extremely prompt. When we arranged to meet, he was always there at least 10 minutes before to ensure I was never kept waiting.

You can gather that I was very pleased with the tour that you arranged and will not hesitate to recommend you to my friends & family.

Hello,
On behalf of Gill and I this is to say a big thank you for a great vacation. Sandesh and the team in Delhi did a good job in managing the tour. The organisation and service was excellent and everything went without a hitch. I would like to make special mention of Rishi Ram who was our driver for 9 days. He has a great personality and was both helpful and professional - nothing was too much trouble. There was a small disappointment with the farewell meal (see separate e-mail) but that should not detract from the overall satisfaction of a really good holiday. I would have no hesitation in recommending your company to friends and associates.

Best regards

Ken Johnson

Dear Sir

Greetings

Please may I send you huge compliments to yourselves and all of your agents in India for our recent highly successful tour of the "Golden Triangle",

The tour was managed faultlessly throughout, and our particular thanks go to the tour manager Girish and our driver Rama on the Delhi-Jaipur-Agra sections who often went the extra mile to assist (sometimes even taking us to shops to look at items we didn't even know we wanted ). The Amritsar section of the tour also was excellent. All the local tour guides and managers also played their part in creating a highly successful holiday.

Additionally the hotel accommodation was excellent thoughout, I particularly liked Ranjit's Svaasa (Amritsar) which was very relaxing and much different from the larger "corporate" hotels.

Kind Regards and Thanks

Well we are all safely home and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our holiday and believe me it is not always easy to please 8 people all of the time. However, the arrangements you made on our behalf and the local companies you employed could not have been bettered. Although we had quite a few different hotels / cities / flights everything went like clockwork and the guides and company representatives were always on time and very helpful. The Taj was beautiful especially the early morning visit - much less busy. Thank you for suggesting the Umaid Bhawan in Jaipur we loved it, it was so different to staying in one of the big chain hotels. The Kenilworth Beach Resort was also lovely and I am so glad you told me about it. As I said we stayed there 14 years ago when it was called the Goa Penta and it was nice to return and see how the gardens had matured since it first opened. The area around Majorda was still very much the same and had not been spoilt so we were also happy about that.
Once again thank you for all your help, We will certainly be recommending you to our friends and colleagues and hope to do business with you again.
Please do not hesitate to use me as a reference and I can be contacted by E mail

Thanks again from all of us

We are back fom our long trip in India but are unable to forget about it. We are definitely going back again!

I must tell you that the arrangements all worked very well, the hotels, guides, drivers were all excellent. The trip as a whole was a very complex logisitic operation, and we were ready for some problems, but there weren't any. Every stage went smoothly, we were met as planned and assisted by local agents, every element was exactly as proposed by you.

Also, although the trip was quite expensive in total, we felt we really got our money's worth.
Congratulations to you and your team. We especially want to thank Sella in the Delhi office who was very gracious and helpful.

I have already recommended you to some friends and hope some business will materialise for you.

The houseboat was one of the highlights of the trip, the crew were wonderful, so I do not wish to make any negative comments, but the bathroom did not come up to the standards of the rest of the boat.

Thank you again for a memorable experience,

Gillain and Tom Keve

Hello

We have now returned from our trip and want to express our gratitude for the wonderful time you organized for us.
We must tell you that all our guides, without exception, were very well qualified and went a long way to showing and telling us the best of India.
All our travel arrangements went exactly as you had arranged, and the hotels were delightful.
We were very sorry to leave such a marvelous experience behind, and will come back to you to arrange further visits in due course.
A final big ‘Dhanyavad’ to you and your staff.

Well we are back safe and sound and well rested as you already know and we feel we must congratulate you on an excellent trip, equal to anything Cox and Kings or Pettitts could do. we have been travelling all over the world for more than 40 years and this trip must rank as one of the best. The reasons for this are the fantastic choice of first class hotels, our favourite being Coconut lagoon by a whisker from the Savoy and the Travancore, the boat on the backwaters, well that was something else better than fantastic, the chef on board was five star, and lastly the team in India. They need to be told how professional they are. Our driver, although being young and inexperienced, will no doubt become a great asset to South Tourism, because what he lacked in local knowledge he made up for with very safe and skilled driving, we felt totally safe in the car.The best local guide was in Cochin because she knew how to get and where to buy the things we wanted as well as being very knowlegable. We have to struggle to find anything wrong but maybe the Casino hotel was a bit too business man rather than tourist which was reflected in the staff and hotel in general.Maybe the local guides ned to be a bit more aware of client shopping needs. We can't say anything about the food other than it was great and we never had an upset tummy and ate indian food every day. So once again well done and we hope to use your services again, please send a copy of this email out to the team in India because we have never been motivated to send congratulations to any travel agents before. regards Andrew and Carol Seall

Well we arrived back safely, we had a good time, the weather was a bit freaky, when the temp dropped, boy did it drop!!! so i became unwell on the last week, i did buy postcards to send to you and our friends, but never got round to doing it....sorry

I have to say all your representatives, guides and especially the drivers were very good. The hotels were all very nice, especially taj ambassador, who upgraded us on our final 2 night stay and had very friendly staff, we even met Sidhu there (former indian cricketer)

My only disappointment about the whole trip is your cars did not have radio's in so we could listen to some bollywood music especially on the journey from jaipur to agra and agra to delhi which were quite long.

Thanks again for a wonderful trip.

I note you do trips to dubai, would you be able to send me one of your brochures.

cheers

Just a quick email to say that we have been very impressed with the way in which you responded to our concerns about staying at the Samudra Beach Hotel .
We assumed that we would have to sort ourselves out and find our own alternative accomadation when the staff at the Samudra informed us that they did not have any better rooms.
We had a fantastic holiday and all the other hotels we stayed at were excellent. I would definately recomend your company to anybody else planning a trip to the countries you cover.
Thank you.

We had a great vacation in Rajasthan. Everything went allright, as mentioned in the program.
We had good drivers, good hotels and mostly good English speaking guides in the places we visited.
Also we had nice wheather, neither hot nor cold.
And we enjoyed the Indian life, Indian food and Indian culture.

Just a short note to say that the holiday was fantastic - great guides and a superb driver- everything went like clockwork!
My only reservation would be the Taj Green Coves Hotel in Kovalem - it is quite a small hotel, the standard rooms are not big enough for 3 people ( we were upgraded), the swimming pool is too close to the restaurant and there are too many steps - there were 96 steps from the hotel reception to our room!!, so you may want to check before you send people there.
Many thanks - I will be sure to recommend you to any friends wishing to go to India.

hankyou, thankyou, thankyou.
Our holiday in India was even more than we hoped for ... we felt like royalty and were handed over form one guide to the next with precision timing. All were courteous and well informed. Our first driver, Richey became our rock. We appreciated the heritage hotels very much espically at Rawla Narlai where we enjoyed a moonlit, roof-top dinner- what a jewel of a place.
The holiday was truly wonderful and the children coped admirally with all the diverse experiences. Even the delay in our connecting flight gave us an unexpected opportunity to viist our relatives in Mumbai and take a swim at Breach Candy!

Thankyou again and for the silk scarves -they were invaluable.

Kind regards,
